ABOUT GLOBAL LIVER INSTITUTE

Global Liver Institute is a nonprofit organization founded in the belief that liver health must take its place on the global public health agenda commensurate with the prevalence and impact of liver illness.

GLI promotes innovation, encourages collaboration, and supports the scaling of optimal approaches to help eradicate liver diseases. Operating globally, GLI is committed to solving the problems that matter to liver patients and equipping advocates to improve the lives of individuals and families impacted by liver disease.

OUR PROGRAMS & INITIATIVES

GLI’s four strategic councils bring together experts, advocates, and stakeholders to drive targeted action across the spectrum of liver health challenges.

Advanced Advocacy Academy (A3)
Through year-round training and opportunities for advocacy paired with an annual learning and advocacy experience, GLI empowers a growing cohort of patient advocates to speak with clarity and impact on the policies and systems that affect liver health.
Beyond the Biopsy
As non-invasive screening gains evidence, this initiative helps ensure it is adopted worldwide to reduce the risk from biopsy.
Liver Health Symposium
The Symposium brings patients, caregivers, and providers together for a full day of awareness, education, and advocacy. Featuring expert sessions from Mayo Clinic and local specialists, the event offers the latest insights on liver disease, metabolic syndrome, and emerging treatments, with CME credits available.
Liver Health is Public Health
This initiative elevates liver health as a critical public health priority through education, awareness campaigns, and policy advocacy to reach underserved communities.
Veterans Health
GLI supports Veterans with tailored education, advocacy, and access to liver health resources so they can navigate risk factors, get timely care, and protect their long-term wellbeing.

JOIN OUR COUNCILS

GLI’s Fatty Liver Disease, Liver Cancers, and Pediatric and Rare Liver Diseases Councils convene patient advocates, advocacy groups, clinical researchers, industry leaders, and other allies to discuss priorities and lead the field forward.

Advocacy & Policy

GLI advocates for liver health through a variety of avenues, including authoring and signing on to key initiatives.

U.S. POLICY

By collaborating with agencies like FDA, CMS, the CDC, the NIH, the WHO, and the EMA; letters to key U.S. Congressional and Administration leaders; joint petitions; contribution to White House task forces; meetings with Congressional offices, and the activation of our network, we promote liver health at local, regional, state, federal, and international levels.

GLOBAL POLICY
GLI continues to elevate liver health as a core part of NCD prevention and equitable care through high-level policy engagement; including active participation at the World Health Assembly, UN General Assembly, and the EU Parliament.
